General

The Aural 30 provides a complete base system with a CO line card and an Internal Telephone card. Up to 4 incoming lines can be connected in one CO line card (FXO card) and up to 4 Telephones can be connected to the system. For each internal (FXS) line there can be a remote extension that calls can be forwarded.

The System includes an Auto Attendant and Voicemail. In addition, 8-port Caller ID is also integrated into the system.

System

How many Incoming lines can I have with the Aural 30?

The Aural 30 has a flexible configuration. You can build up to 32 ports where up to 8 ports can be CO (Outside) Lines.

How many telephones can I connect to the Aural 30?

Up to 24 telephones can be connected to the Aural 30.

Can I connect a Fax machine to the system?

Yes. The Aural 30 had Fax detect integrated into the system so The Fax machine can be connected along with the other extensions to share the CO lines. It does not need it’s own CO line but if this is preferred, A CO line can be dedicated to a Fax machine.

Incoming Lines

  • Decide who needs a direct line that can not be shared with other employees. This dedicated line is not shared with other telephones connected to the system.
  • Add to this number the number of incoming lines that you want to share among employees.

Note: If the call volume is very high, the all extensions need a dedicated line and the number of Extension lines (FXS) and Incoming lines (FXO) should be equal.

  • If you want a dedicated fax line add one line for the fax. Else the fax line will also be shared with the voice lines for the Business.

The total number of lines coming into the system should match the number of CO lines you purchase. Each CO Line Card – or FXO card supports 4 lines.

Telephones

How many telephones are needed on the premises?

Does each employee need his or her own telephone?

If so, the number of telephones and the number of extension ports should match the number or employees.

Else, if some employees will share a telephone, then this will reduce the number or telephone required.

What type of phone should I get?

For basic telephone usage the Aural Single Line Telephone is a simple and cost effective telephone.

The Aural Key Telephone is a powerful, easy to use Telephone with direct access to key system features, feature and call information, and simple access through the simple guided.

Can I be reached through the system when I am away from the office?

Yes. Your mobile phone or home phone for example can become an extension of your telephone at the office.

Key Telephone Set:

Simple set the number to which you want your calls forwarded to from your telephone set. Use the Call Forward key.

Single Line Telephone:

Use the Call Forward Feature Code as mentioned in the manual in place of the Cfwd key in the procedure for the Key Telephone Set.

How do I check Voicemail?

Key Telephone Set:

Select the One touch feature key labeled VM on the alpha numeric keypad to enter the Voicemail system.

Single Line Telephone:

Press the numbers 8 6 for VM to enter the Voicemail system.

How do I make a Conference Call?

To make a three-party Conference:
Key Telephone Set:

Use the one touch feature access key to make a conference call.

To connect a three party conference:

Dial the first number and wait until you are connected to the party you wish to reach. Press the Conf Key on the Key Telephone Set. Dial the second number and wait until you are connected to the party. Press the Conf Key and you will be connected to both parties. All three parties will be in conference.

Single Line Telephone:

Use the Conference Feature Code as mentioned in the manual in place of the Conf key in the procedure for the Key Telephone Set.

To make a five-party Conference:

Key Telephone Set:

After establishing a three-party conference, press hold and then Dial another number. When connected, press the Conf key.
To add the fifth party, press hold to place the conference on hold and dial the number. When connected, press the Conf key.
You will be connected to all 4 parties.

Single Line Telephone:

Use the Conference Feature Code as mentioned in the manual in place of the Conf key in the procedure for the Key Telephone Set.

Note: The outside line access number (0/9) must be dialed before an outgoing number.

Can I leave a Conference and return to it?

Yes.

Key Telephone Set:

To leave the conference press Hold or the Xfer Key.
To return to the conference, press the conference key.

While you are out of the conference and you connect to another line, pressing the conf key places both you and the new caller into the established conference.

Single Line Telephone:

Use the Transfer feature code as mentioned in the manual in place of the Xfer key in the procedure for the Key Telephone Set.

Use the Conf feature code as mentioned in the manual in place of the Conf key in the procedure for the Key Telephone Set.

How do I Transfer a call?

Key Telephone Set:

Press the Xfer key followed by the extension number, outgoing number, or an Extension key from the alpha numeric keypad.

Single Line Telephone:

Use the Transfer Feature Code as mentioned in the manual in place of the Xfer key in the procedure for the Key Telephone Set.

Note: The outside line access number (0/9) must be dialed before an outgoing number.

Can I control the volume on the telephones?

Both Telephone sets have volume controls on the telephone.

Key Telephone Set:

You can access volume control from the main keypad or the menu system.

Single Line Telephone:

The volume control is on the bottom of the phone and on the handset.

How does Call Waiting work with the telephones?

Key Telephone Set:

When on a call and another call comes in, you will see the Caller Id information on the display. In addtion, you will see the Swap on the display and the swap key blinking. Select the Swap Key to switch to the waiting call.

To return to the other call, press Swap again. You can use Swap to

Toggle between the calls.

Single Line Telephone:

Use the Call Waiting Feature Code as mentioned in the manual in place of the Swap key in the procedure for the Key Telephone Set.

Note: Call Waiting Feature must be set up with your telephone service in order to access / use this feature.

Features

Features to look for in a Telephone System:

Auto-Attendant

The Aural 30 integrates an Auto Attendant into the system. The Auto Attendant messages can be manually recorder or automatically downloaded though wave files.

Caller ID

Caller ID is integrated into the Aural 30. The system provides an 8 port Caller ID. The user does not need to purchase a separate card or box for Caller ID. The user must have the service through the telephone service provider for External Caller ID to work.

The Key Telephones will show name and number information and the Single Line Telephone will show the number of the calling party.

Conferencing

Aural offers up to 3 5-party conferences.
Conference is accessible through a feature key on the Aural Key Telephone Set.

Music on Hold

The Aural 30 offers 4 one minute Music or Message on holds. Any combination of music or text can be recorded for these time slots. The 4 sections loop to provide continuous music and/or messages while a Caller is on hold.

System Directory

The Aural Auto Attendant system provides a dial by name system directory.

Voicemail

The Aural 30 package includes voicemail. An external box or card is not required. To increase the capacity or memory for voicemail, the system can be upgraded to 4 ½ hours by changing the voicemail card.

Accessories

How can I page someone with the telephone system?

One option for paging is to use the page feature through the Aural Key Telephones.

The second option is to purchase the External Paging Module and connect an amplifier and speaker.

What if I would like to use a Wireless Phones?

Any analog wireless phone can be connected in parallel to the Aural Key Telephone Set.

What if I need a Door Phone?

Most third party door phones connect to the Aural 30. One CO (FXO) port will be used for the Door Phone.

System Installation

Is there 4 line telephone RJ11 wiring in the building?

In order to connect the Aural Key Telephone System, The building must support 4 lines into the RJ-11 connectors.

Can I set up the Aural 30 or does a telephony technician Need to install the system?

The Aural 30 is designed for the user to install and set up.

Configuring System Settings

What is required to configure before using the System?

Be sure to connect the Aural 30 via Serial cable to the control PC and Load the Configuration Software on the control PC.

Note: Check the Installation Guide for requirements for the PC.

How do you make a change to system settings?

The graphical user interface software allows you to set and change

System settings.

Follow the Aural Assistant or the Configuration Software manual to complete the changes.

Why are changes made through the configuration Software not reflected in the System?

After any changes are made through the Configuration Software, select the 'Send Settings' open under the file menu to upload your Configuration change/setting to the PBX

 

Expanding Your System

Be sure to estimate the needs of your business before purchasing. The advantage of the Aural 30 is that it is easy and cost effective to expand up to 32 ports in one box.
